Message from Allenhurst Police Department
Now that the warmer weather is upon us, the Police Department wants to remind all motorists that pedestrians have the right of way when crossing the street in a crosswalk. The Police Department takes traffic safety very seriously and officers will be monitoring busy crosswalks when traffic increases to make sure this law is being enforced.
The warmer weather also increases the number of parties, BBQ's, and outdoor get-togethers. The Police Department will continue to make DWI enforcement a top priority and has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy toward impaired driving! The penalties for those convicted of impaired driving (which includes any type of impairment, whether it be due to alcohol, illegal drugs, or LEGALLY PRESCRIBED medications) are very serious & costly, so PLEASE make sure you use a designated driver! No one ever thinks they will be arrested for DWI, and most people are shocked at their actual blood/alcohol level. The Police Department does not want to stop people from having a good time, but just reminds all to do it RESPONSIBLY--the consequences could be "life-altering"!
The Police Department continues to check child safety seats and encourages anyone to call HQ if you want to learn how to PROPERLY install a seat or have your currently installed seat inspected.
