About

The Borough of Allenhurst was developed on the site of a 120 acre farm originally owned by Abner Allen.  It was incorporated on April 26, 1897.  Due to its location at the seashore and accessibility from New York City by the railroad, the Borough benefited from the resort boom at the turn of the 20th century.  The many grand homes built back then have been faithfully preserved and in 2010, The Allenhurst Residential Historic District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Borough of Allenhurst owns and operates the Allenhurst Beach Club which features a large salt water pool which is filled from the ocean every night during the summer season.  The beach at the ABC is open to the public for a daily fee with handicap access found at the east end of Allen Ave and Cedar Ave.

The Borough also has a quaint downtown business district and a beautiful lakefront park and playground which is located at the western end of Corlies and Spier Avenues
