Allenhurst Garden Club

The Allenhurst Garden Club was founded November 28, 1995. Two neighborhood women conversing over a picket fence, both with a love of gardening and friendship formed the nonprofit volunteer organization. The Allenhurst Garden Club’s objectives are to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening and promote better horticultural practices, civic beauty, and the conservation of natural resources.

Ten years later the club has thirty-eight active members, who are proud and pleased to have planted, pulled, and clipped their way toward that original goal. We now have a beautiful beach club perennial garden, the town’s Main Street and Ocean boardwalk are dotted with planters brimming with flowers that are changed according to the seasons.

Even as we saw the results of our efforts throughout the community, our vision continued to blossom. Our community garden projects have expanded to include, the restoration of the historical Centennial Park Colonnade & Memorial Flower Gardens on Main Street.

“The Porch and Garden Walk”, held every other year, is the club’s major fund-raiser. The contributions from this event provide the funds needed for the completion of the Centennial Park Memorial Flower Gardens, the container gardens in the community flowering and various club projects.
